Embattled Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko ferried more than 50 MCAs to Kwale county in a bid to thwart an impeachment motion against him.
According to the list, the Nairobi leader was accompanied by 57 MCAs out of the 120 ward reps at the city assembly. This means the maximum number of MCAs who were physically present at City Hall during the debate was 63, if the governor's numbers are to be trusted.
The absence of the 57 county leaders at the assembly, according to Sonko, was sufficient to cripple the censure motion considering the House needed the endorsement of at least 82 members in order to kick him out.
It not clear how it happened although some of the MCAs who were with the governor in Kwale claimed they were logged in on an online portal and made to vote without their knowledge.
As such, the embattled Nairobi boss has released a list of ward reps who accompanied him to Diani Beach.
The move is aimed at debunking the numbers that were witnessed at City Hall during his ouster.
