Rachael Ruto Cycles 146 Kilometres To Mark 100 Days Since Mama Cycling Was Established.
The second lady, Mama Rachel Ruto, on Saturday, December 19, cycled 146 kilometres to mark 100 days since Mama Cycling was established.
Mama Rachel stated that it was high time people began thinking about a healthier environment, a healthier population and a sustainable economy.
"A safe non-motorised transport system for #WatuWaBaiskeli is part of the solution. Glad to have cycled 146kms to mark 100 days since MaMa cycling was established," she wrote.
Mama Rachel and other cyclists gathered in Nairobi town before they embarked on a ride that led them past Machakos County towards Makueni.
The cyclists took necessary measures to guarantee their safety on the road - safety measures which are observed during all the weekly rides.
The Second Lady, who is the patron of Mama Cycling, has been vocal about the need to protect cyclers by deliberately prioritizing road safety.
The sports club encourages everyone to take up physical activity. Rachel urged Kenyans to engage in cycling as it guarantees one a good mood.
"Cycling gives me an opportunity to see more of our beautiful country as well as stay in good shape. You are always one bike ride away from a good mood," she stated in a previous post.
In late November, she cycled in honor of Kui Gitonga, a biker whose life was cut short in a motorcycle accident. Gitonga was a volunteer road marshall for cycling groups, protecting and ensuring a safe route by directing cyclists.
"I am gutted to hear of the unfortunate death of Kui Gitonga, a young, vibrant and innocent rider who was knocked down this morning while riding,"she wrote on her Facebook page.
