Weatherman Predicts A Dry January, With occasional Rainfall In Some Parts Of The Country
TUE, 5TH JAN - The rainfall outlook for the month of January 2021 indicates that most parts of the country will experience dry weather conditions.
However, few areas over western Kenya, Lake Victoria basin around Kisumu, Busia, Migori, Kisii, Siaya, the southern Rift valley region of Kericho, Narok and Bomet, parts of central Kenya in Nyeri, Meru, Murang’a, Nyandarua and the south-eastern lowlands of Kajiado, Makueni, Taita Taveta, Machakos, Kitui are likely to experience occasional rainfall during the first week of January 2021.
In a statement, the Director of Meteorological Department Stella Aura, is warning that the North-western Region of the country around Turkana, West Pokot and Samburu as well as the North-eastern Region of Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo, Mandera and Marsabit could see maximum temperature rise to between 30 degrees Celsius and 40 degrees Celsius in January owing to the Sunny and dry conditions expected.
The Weatherman says the below average Equatorial sea surface temperatures (SSTs) and in the Pacific Ocean and above average Sea Surface Temperatures in the Western Pacific indicates the presence of a La Niña event hence the below average rainfall experienced over most parts of Kenya.
